A strange way to die is investigated.

Sevan Kevorkian, his girlfriend, and a male roommate were inside a two-bedroom apartment they share. Kerorkian went into his bedroom and did not come out for a long period of time. His girlfriend went to check on him.
She found Kevorkian hanging by the neck from a pole in the closet. Kevorkian was unresponsive. She cut him down from the pole and was able to revive him.
Kevorkian became combative, according to Lt. Kevin Rooney of the SDPD Homicide Detail. He began to pull his girlfriend around the room by the hair.
Outside, a couple pulled up in their vehicle; they were visiting someone who lived on the block. They witnessed Kevorikian assaulting his girlfriend through the bedroom window, which overlooks Hamilton Street.
The male half of the couple took it upon himself to climb through the window and place Kevorkian in a carotid restraint, which caused Kevorkian to become unconscious for the second time that night.
Kevorkian was transported to a trauma center; he died, however, on January 31, at 11:58 p.m.
