Officers and firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in an alley; when they arrived, they “found the car completely engulfed by flames,” according to Manny Guaderrama of the SDPD Homicide Unit. A female was trapped in the driver’s seat of a burning car and yelling for help.
Because of the flames and smoke, officers could not see inside the car or get to the female. After the fire as extinguished, it was obvious that the victim was deceased.
The cause and origin of this fire are under investigation by Homicide as it is a suspicious death. The female victim has not yet been identified.
