Sheriff's Communication Center received a call to assist the San Miguel Fire Department. They were directed to a 32-year-old male gunshot victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene. He was later identified as Jerrad Fletcher by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the dead male’s father arrived at his son’s residence, in the rural area between Jamul and El Cajon, at 8:50 a.m. and found his son’s dead body. He called 911.
On site evidence suggests the home "was a setting for an indoor marijuana growing operation," states Lt. Dennis Brugos of the San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Detail, and notes "a motive for this homicide has not been established."
Neighbors told the police cars were always coming and going at all hours at the residence.
Police ask anyone with information to call the Homicide Detail at 858-974-2321 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-TIPS.
