Palm Avenue and 3rd Street, Imperial Beach October 27, 1:34 a.m. Sheriff’s Dept. 32.58399, -117.127399
Deputies from the Imperial Beach Station responded to a call of shots fired on the street. On arrival, they found a male with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was lying on the patio of the Fleet Reserve, near the bar.
Three companions of the victim were questioned and two witnesses from a nearby apartment complex came forward with information. The companions and the citizen witnesses had two slightly different versions of what happened.
All agreed that the Hispanic male victim walked from the intersection of palm Avenue and 3rd Street to the patio of the Fleet Reserve, where he collapsed. A black male subsequently got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
The citizen witnesses added that someone fired thee retaliation shots at the suspect vehicle. The three companions stated they were not aware of any retaliation shots fired.
