Patrol officers heard gunshots near 4800 El Cajon Boulevard and converged on the area to investigate.
A detective found a male down in the east alley of 4300 48th Street. The male was lying next to his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Lee Roy Henderson, 29, of Colorado City, Texas.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Henderson was with several companions when he stopped to visit an apartment on Trojan Avenue. While Henderson was indoors, his companions remained in the vehicle, parked in the alley.
A white vehicle passed the victim’s vehicle twice, then returned a third time as Henderson left the apartment. The suspect vehicle stopped just north of the Henderson. Two people stepped out.
One of the suspects fired multiple rounds at Henderson, striking and killing him.
SDPD said the motive for the crime is not known at this time.
