930 Broadway, El Cajon Arrest on October 5, 2007; Homicide on March 1, 2006, 11:06 p.m. El Cajon PD 32.807732, -116.950075
A third suspect was identified and arrested regarding the Granada Liquor homicides. The homicides occurred in March, 2006. This investigation has been ongoing, according to El Cajon Police.
The third suspect was identified as Nichele Delon Hopson, 23, as the drive rof the getaway car. Hopson was arrested on October 5, 2007, in the Castro Valley, California. This arrest was a result of the collaborated effort between the El Cajon Police Department and the San Diego District Attorney Investigators.
Heather Nabil Mattia, 22, and Firas Washid Eiso, 23, were fatally shot during a robbery of the Granada Liquor Store on 930 Broadway. Eiso owned the store and Mattia was his employee. Jean Pierre Rices, 25, of El Cajon, and James Miller, 21, of Alpine are the other two charged with the murders. They are awaiting trial. Hopson seems to be related to Rices. Hopson has been held without bail pending a November 29 hearing.
The death penalty may be sought because of special circumstances—the victims were shot execution-style, for no apparent reason coinciding with the robbery. Surveillance tapes reveal two men going into Granada Liquor at 11:07 p.m., forcing Mattia and Eiso to lie facedown on the floor. Then they were both shot in the back of the head.
