Deputies responded to a call of a fight at an apartment complex. They arrived on the scene within minutes of the call, but whoever was fighting had dispersed and were not there.
It seems that a group of young male adults, some of whom are residents of the complex, were involved in the fight. One of the participants received a stab wound. He was taken by private vehicle to a local fire station, where emergency medical aid was administered.
The victim was then transported to Palomar Hospital in Escondido, where he was pronounced dead at 10:01 p.m.
What provoked the fight is unclear and a positive identification on the suspect and the deceased has not been established.
