The Sheriff's Bomb/ Arson Unit was notified of a report of a death in Tecate. Rural deputies received the call the night before but were unable to locate the body due to safety reasons.
Representatives from the County Medical Examiner's Office, Sheriff's Rural Enforcement, U. S. Border Patrol and Bomb/Arson detectives traveled through the rugged terrain of Tecate peak to locate the body.
The remains of an adult male were located at about 11:30 a.m. The victim appeared to have died as a result of burn injuries, possibly resulting from the Harris fire. The victim was subsequently transported to the medical examiners office for further examination and identification.
The investigation is ongoing
