Officers found two males suffering from gunshot wounds. The most seriously injured victim, 36-year-old Rocky Wyatt, was transported to a trauma center, where he died. The second victim, 29, is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
The victims were sitting near a small playground in an apartment complex, watching a group of children at play, when three young black males, 15-18-years-old, approached them on foot.
One of the young males uttered a gang challenge and then produced a weapon and started to fire at the victims. The suspects then fled.
On October 23, SDPD Gang Unit detectives arrested Jamel Davis, 19, for possession of a handgun. The arrest occurred at 200 Willie James Jones Avenue. During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Jamel Davis, along with his twin brother Jamal, were suspects in the murder of Wyatt.
Jamal Davis was arrested at 3:00 p.m. at 3000 J Street.
Both 19-year-old twins have been booked for homicide.
