El Cajon Police Department received a call of shots being fired. The first officer on the scene found a female victim slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle on the north curb line. She had been shot several times. El Cajon Fire Paramedics responded and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
She has been identified as Rosa Elena Reed, 44, of El Cajon.
Witnesses described the shooter as a black male, 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds, and wearing dark clothing.
Officer Rosas and his partner, Officer Calderon, noticed a man matching the suspect's description in a parking lot north of the scene. He was indeeed the shooter and he was taken into custody without incident.
He has been identified as Michal Andre Reed, 44, of El Cajon. He is the ex-husband of the victim; the investigation is ongoing at this time. El Cajon police state that there are currently no outstanding suspects other suspects.
Michal Andre Reed was booked into county jail on one count 187 P. C. Murder.
