An employee of a Birdland area nursing home found the body of a male near the service road. The road is used to transport delivery items to and from the facility. The employee believed this was a dead body and called police. Police arrived and confirmed the male to be deceased.
The death is deemed unknown and "suspicious." The apparent victim is identified as Justin Hernandez. His pants were pulled down and shirt pulled up. There was trauma noticed to the head and parts of the body. Homicide detectives were called in. It was later reported that Hernandez' family received a "suspicious" phone call before his body was found. Hernandez was also carrying several hundred dollars in cash, much of it missing from his pocket.
