It was the same scenario a season ago – both teams came into the last week of the regular season undefeated in league – and Eastlake took the Mesa League crown with a 28-11 win at Chula Vista. Can the Spartans return the favor Friday night? Both teams have been dominant thus far against Mesa opposition, with Eastlake outscoring their opponents 170-23 and Chula Vista winning by a combined 192-53. Can Chula Vista’s defense contain Tony Jefferson and explosive Eastlake offense? If that doesn’t happen, the Titans will make it three straight in this series.

Mira Mesa (5-4, 3-1 Eastern) at Lincoln (6-2-1, 3-1) Friday 6:30 p.m.
There’s a three-way tie at the top of the Eastern League, and the team that wins this one will clinch at least a share of the league title. Both teams come in winners of two straight after slipping up in October. Two of the best offensive players in the section will be on display in this one – Marauders back Damien Williams (1,521 yards, 15 touchdowns) and Lincoln receiver Victor Dean (1,029 yards, 14 touchdowns).
Ramona (8-1, 4-1 Valley) at Oceanside (9-0, 5-0) Friday 7 p.m.
Last season Oceanside was seemingly headed for their second straight State Bowl Game when a tie at Ramona essentially ruined their shot. No doubt they will be out for revenge when the Bulldogs come to town. The Pirates have dominated their opposition en route to going undefeated, outscoring their foes by an average of 32 points.
Francis Parker (8-1, 3-0 Coastal) vs Christian (6-3, 2-1) Friday 7 p.m. at Valhalla High
Francis Parker has the inside track to the Small Schools South State Bowl bid. Can they clear their last regular season hurdle? Francis Parker quarterback Deon Randall is a true dual threat, averaging 139 yards rushing and 101 yards passing. Christian’s defense will have its hands full with the Lancers offense, who have rolled up 43 points per game in their first three in the Coastal League.
Brawley (8-1, 4-0 Imperial Valley) at Central (7-2, 4-0) Friday 7 p.m.
One of the section’s more intriguing games on paper comes from outside San Diego when the Spartans and Wildcats meet for the Imperial Valley League title. Expect a shootout – both teams come in averaging 36 points per game.
