Week 6 High Five

Game of the Week

Patrick Henry (4-0) vs. Bonita Vista (4-0) Friday 7 p.m. at Southwestern College

Both the Patriots and Barons have gone about their perfection quietly. The Patriots rely on a stout defense that has allowed an average of six points per game. Patrick Henry senior linebacker Joseph Giordano has a team-leading 46 tackles and one interception. The Patriots defense will be charged with stopping the Barons ground attack, led by running back tandem Ibrahim Hassan and Bryan Montrueil, who are both averaging more than 100 yards per game. Bonita Vista’s defense is also tough and they are coming off of a shutout win over Mount Miguel. This is only the Barons second game of the season on their home field at Southwestern College.

Best of the Rest

Valley Center (4-0) at Westview (4-0, 1-0 Valley) Friday 7 p.m.

Expect a shootout in this Valley League match-up – both teams come in averaging more than 30 points per game. Both teams also feature outstanding quarterback-receiver duos, Tyler Bernard and James Johnson for the Jaguars and Tommy Hansen and Steven Sousa for the Wolverines.

Otay Ranch (2-1-1) at El Cajon Valley (4-1) Friday 6:30 p.m.

The Braves and Mustangs are both looking to bounce back this week after each suffered their first loss of 2008 last week. This match-up features a pair of quarterbacks that operate from the shotgun, Otay Ranch’s Juan Leary and El Cajon Valley’s Isaac Soliz.

Santana (3-2) at Madison (4-0, 1-0 Central) Friday 6:30 p.m.

Both the Sultans and the Warhawks are coming off narrow wins from a week ago. Santana edged Hilltop 35-34 while Madison took down previously unbeaten Coronado 34-28. Look for both offenses to contrast each other – the Sultans like to throw the ball with sophomore quarterback Zach Breidt, while the Warhawks prefer to move it on the ground with dual threat quarterback Lester Fontenette and running back Robbie Rouse.

Clairemont (3-1) at Kearny (3-2) Friday 3 p.m.

Both teams are riding win streaks – the Chieftans have won three straight after losing their season opener and the Komets have won two in a row. This match-up pitts Kearny’s high-flying offense (51 points per game in their three wins) against Clairemont’s stout defense (13 points per game in their three wins).
