Rounding out the section's unbeatens with the final three:
Division IV
Valley Center (4-0)
This Week: Bye
Next Week: Friday at Westview (4-0) 7:30 p.m.
The defending Division IV champion Jaguars feature the dynamic duo of quarterback Tyler Bernard and receiver James Johnson. Bernard has completed 64 percent of his passes for 918 yards and 10 touchdowns. Johnson is averaging 23 yards per catch and has six touchdowns this season. Not all of the Jaguars’ wins have come easy – Valley Center won two of its games by a combined seven points.
Madison (4-0, 1-0 Central)
Last Week: W 34-28 vs. Coronado
This Week: Friday vs. Santana (3-2) 6:30 p.m. The Warhawks can put up points – in their four wins Madison has averaged 43 points per game. Five-foot-six-inch running back Robbie Rouse fuels the Warhawks offense and in Madison’s win over Coronado, Rouse rushed for 301 yards and three touchdowns.
Division V
Christian (5-0)
This Week: W 35-15 vs. Central Union
Next Week: Saturday vs. Palo Verde (2-2) 7 p.m. at Valhalla HS
Last season the Patriots only loss was in the Division V championship game, and it doesn’t appear like they are going to lose any time this season. Christian has played higher division opponents and handled them with relative ease, including their most recent victim, Central Union, which was previously unbeaten. Senior running back Charles Thompson handles most of the offensive workload, carrying the ball 89 times for 859 yards and eight touchdowns this season.
