Quick Hits: Division III unbeatens

After Friday night, three unbeatens remain in Division III:

Ramona (5-0)

This Week: W 42-14 at Mt. Carmel

Next Week: Friday at San Marcos (2-3) 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs begin league play as one of four unbeatens in the Valley League – and are the team perhaps most unknown. But Ramona did beat defending Division I champion Poway and has not allowed a single point in the second or third quarter this season. The Bulldogs’ rushing attack is led by the duo of senior Joey Dambrose and junior Ryan Morgan. Dambrose has rushed for 338 yards and five touchdowns and Morgan has 260 yards rushing and six touchdowns through the first four games. Senior linebacker Tanner Hix leads the defense with 24 tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception leading up to Ramona’s game against Mt. Carmel.

Cathedral Catholic (4-0)

This Week: W 42-14 at Otay Ranch

Next Week: Friday vs Chino (2-2)

No one has been able to stop the Dons offense, which has averaged 41 points per game this season. Cathedral Catholic has rolled over Point Loma, Carlsbad and Otay Ranch in comfortable fashion. Running back Tyler Gaffney leads the offense, and he had two touchdown runs against Otay Ranch Friday. Gaffney has free things up for quarterback Parker Hipp, who has shredded defenses this season.

Valhalla (4-0)

This Week: W 34-0 at Grossmont

Next Week: Friday vs. El Capitan (3-2) 7 p.m.

The Norsemen have held opponents scoreless for the last nine quarters and their offense has averaged 35 points per game. There is no doubt about how Valhalla likes to move the ball – quarterback Pete Thomas has thrown for 1,043 yards and 14 touchdowns already this season.
