The High School Red Zone is back for the 2011 high school football season. For the fourth year, the Red Zone will be the San Diego Reader’s home for high school football and provide in-depth coverage from throughout the San Diego Section.
The season kicks off Sept. 1 and coverage will start later this month with previews of the top teams in the section. Check back to see how your favorite team will fare this season.

Video Highlights
A new camera means all the Red Zone highlights are now in 720p HD. Our YouTube channel has 51 videos from each the 2008-2010 seasons. Below are highlights from last year’s midseason thriller between Oceanside and Vista:

Regular Content
During the season the Red Zone will post content multiple times a week, including:
Game Coverage/Scoreboard On Fridays and Saturdays, coverage of the Game of the Week, other assorted games and a scoreboard with all of the action
Feature/Opinion Stories Highlighting unique teams and players throughout the section or offering the Red Zone’s take on an issue
Top 10 On Sunday nights during the season, check to see if your team makes grade in the weekly Red Zone Top 10
High Five Each Monday, a preview of the best five games of the week – including the Game of the Week
Best Pics On the first Tuesday of each month, the Red Zone picks its best five pictures from the previous month’s action
Sound Off Quick hitting opinions on a topic related to high school football

The Red Zone is on Twitter and Facebook. Follow or like the Red Zone for breaking high school football news and score updates during the season – we have 87 fans and 50 followers headed into this season.
