The results of the Mexican presidential elections held yesterday were significantly different than the polls going into the election. The last poll going into the elections showed the PRI candidate, Enrique Peña Nieto, with a 15% point lead. The almost final results were much closer:
PRI - Enrique Peña Nieto - 37.95% PRD - Andrés Manuel López Obrador - 31.79% PAN - Josefina Vázquez Mota - 25.45%
Even more interesting is that among Mexicans who lived in other countries, mainly the US, and who voted at their embassies and consulates, the results were reversed:
PAN - Josefina Vázquez Mota - 42.16% PRD - Andrés Manuel López Obrador - 38.99% PRI - Enrique Peña Nieto - 15.61%
