The City of San Diego's Purchasing & Contracting Department has sent out a request for proposal for professionals to provide council redistricting services. The City is looking for contractors for mapping software; data processing and analysis; preparation and review of proposed redistricting plans, and technical staff support for the 2010 redistricting plan. The City is now divided into 8 districts for council elections. The City decided to add a 9th district some time ago. The proposal closes April 5; the final redistricting plan is slated for August of this year. The City claims it wants a contractor who will provide information to the public through access to the mapping process, online help, and attendance at public hearings. Thanks to Matt Potter for sending this along.
