Median property values in the county (San Diego, Carlsbad, San Marcos metro area) are $417,700. That's in the top ten, but well below San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara at $638,300. The San Jose area has the highest monthly rentals at $1,414. San Diego is fourth at $1,224. Demographic figures from 2006-2008 show that 22.6% of the San Diego County population is foreign born, versus 12.5% for the U.S. A full 35.2% of San Diegans speak a language other than English a home versus 19.6% for the U.S. Hispanics or Latinos comprise 30.4% of the population, more than double the 15.1% of the U.S. Median household income in San Diego is $63,727, above the nation's $52,175.
