San Diego County lost 88,300 jobs in the year ended Sept of 2009, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today (April 1). This was seventh worst among large U.S. counties. Los Angeles County and Maricopa County in Arizona had the biggest losses. Orange County, California, lost 126,400 jobs in the period. On a percentage basis, Maricopa was the worst among large counties with an 8.8% decrease in jobs during the year. Orange County, California, was second worst with an 8.6% decline. San Diego and L.A. counties were tied for the next worst behind Orange, with declines of 6.7%.
