Leisure and hospitality jobs jumped by 600 in preparation for the tourist season; however, more than 80% of those job gains were in food services and drinking places. Government jobs grew from a year ago by 2,100. Local government dropped 700 jobs, but federal jobs were up 2,400 and state jobs up 400.
