San Diego County home prices dropped 2.3 percent from July to August, according to Standard & Poor's Case-Shiller Home Price Indices, published this morning (Oct. 28). Only three metro areas among the largest 20 notched a bigger August decline: San Francisco (-3.5%), Phoenix (-2.9) and Las Vegas (-2.4). Over the last 12 months, San Diego prices are down 25.8 percent, topped only by Phoenix and Las Vegas (each more than 30%), Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Diego home prices peaked in November of 2005. Since then, prices have plunged 32.8 percent. S&P said national trends remain weak.
