Barry Minkow, pastor of Miramar's Community Bible Church, and separately head of the Fraud Discovery Institute, is now pursuing executives who don't have the degrees they claim to have. The latest blowup: J. Terrence Lanni, one of the casino industry's most powerful entrepreneurs, resigned as chairman of Las Vegas's MGM Mirage Thursday, according to the Wall Street Journal. Lanni had long claimed he had an MBA from the University of Southern California. Minkow challenged that. The Journal queried USC, which said it had no record of such a degree. Lanni has long been active at that university, most recently as a member of the board of overseers of the university's medical school. Lanni, who will be 66 in March, claims that the degree controversy was not involved in his decision to step down.
