All were near Mission Beach in the vicinity of the current landslide at Soledad Mountan Road and Desert View Drive. Most were low on the Richter scale (1.3-2.4, etc.) but there was a 3.8 on Sept. 9 and a 4.0 on Sept.4. "The Rose Canyon Fault Zone is active and is currently moving," says Rhodes. She notes that the Navy Broadway Complex project coming before city council Oct. 16 is in the path of the Rose Canyon Fault Zone. "Geologic studies are needed before construction starts," she says.
