The city's attorney's office has launched an investigation into whether the mayor's office committed an egregiously unethical -- and perhaps illegal -- act, in helping a Union-Tribune blogger. The blogger, the pathetically infantile Chris Reed, had posted an item suggesting that City Attorney Mike Aguirre might have used his city system to post an item about a second degree murder case in Los Angeles. "Somebody posed for me," says Aguirre, and that's believable, because the entry was not in his writing style and it is hard to see why he would have had any interest in the case. What his office will investigate is whether someone on the mayor's staff broke into the city's internet protocol (IP) system to get identifying codes of those in the city attorney's office, thereby assisting Reed. According to hearsay, the sudden firing of mayoral aides Lance Wade and Rick Reynolds was a result of one or both protesting that the break-in was unethical. I will have more on this later.
