Yesterday, this blog reported the rumor that Richard Haas, who heads such critical areas as water, wastewater, general and environmental services, and capital projects, was one of a long line of Mayor Jerry Sanders' staffers to leave. Today (Tuesday) the mayor's office sent out a press release in which Haas's departure was concealed deep in the third paragraph. David Jarrell will replace Haas on an interim basis. Sanders appointed Kelly Broughton as director of the Development Services Department, replacing Marcela Escobar-Eck, who resigned this summer during the Sunroad scandal. Sanders said, "I am very grateful that we have such a strong team." Ugh. Do you suppose the poor fellow believes it?
