Perry's Cafe

When I find a restaurant that is a good value and is already crowded on weekends, my first thought is to keep it to myself. But I must tell you that Perry's Cafe in Old Town works on all counts. This 1970's style diner has decent food, large portions, prompt service and is quite popular.

First, they have very good Farmer Bros.100% Columbian coffee that just keeps on coming. The restaurant is open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. so this is both a breakfast and lunch spot. But I ordered breakfast.

I don't care for fat waffles so Perry's flat waffles appeal to me. I usually order the Plain Waffle with 2 Eggs and 2 strips of Bacon ($6.95). This is what I consider a real bargain!

My husband, the bigger eater of the two of us, ordered the Ham Steak with 2 Eggs ($9.50) and a Plain Waffle on the side ($4.25).

All these dishes come with a side of maple syrup and butter and again, the sizes are large.

If you prefer something sweet to start your day, order the Blueberry Compote Cakes with Whipped Cream ($6.95). I requested a hold be put on my whipped cream. That was so I could order the bacon and hash browns and not feel guilty.

Perry's has 5 Breakfast Specials during the week until 11:00 a.m. from Waffles, Smoked Pork Chops & Eggs, Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs…you get the idea. The prices are about $2.00 less than the regular cost.

Other breakfast items include Frittatas, Mexican Breakfasts, Omelets and French Toast.

And remember that Farmer Bros. coffee? Perry's sells a tin of ground coffee for $7.95 so you can enjoy their coffee at home.
