Bread & Cie Bakery * Cafe

I'm always on the lookout for a quality bakery. I have found that in Bread & Cie. Owner Charles Kaufman knows his way around the technique of artisan bread making. Bread & Cie's breads are freshly baked seven days a week and there is a large variety from which to choose. Think sourdough, walnut/raisin, corn rye, lemon pugliese, fig and anise, ciabatta---you get the idea.

But when I'm in the Hillcrest area I long to sit at one of the cafe tables, sip a latte and enjoy one of the many assorted pastries or desserts. Lately I've been into the Coconut Bear Claw. But some days I'm into the Bavarian Mousse Cake.

And then there are the colorful macarons that catch my attention.

There is also a complete cafe menu including breakfast, soups, salads, panninis and sandwiches. A French Metro Tea is served from 2 to 5 p.m. daily for $15. 95 per person. One hour free parking is available in back (if you can snag a spot).
