If a restaurant has been in business for close to 25 years and is still open, they have to be doing something right. Such a place is Lorna’s Italian Kitchen in University City. Located in a strip-shopping center, Lorna’s seats 40 people, has reasonable prices and a very friendly staff. It is the type of casual neighborhood spot where the staff gets to know your name and what you like to eat. Think red-checked tablecloths and family friendly.
Pizzas ($8.50--$19.50) are medium-thin crust and come in 2 sizes. Lorna's makes their own pizza sauce, California mozzarella cheese is used and gluten-free pizza is available. I can recommend the pizza and these 2 entrees:
Pasta with Meatball ($14.90): you have your choice of pasta (I requested spaghetti), which is served with homemade marinara sauce and a meatball. And what a meatball it is, as in huge!

Eggplant Parmigiana ($13.25): the eggplant is lightly breaded and seasoned, baked with their homemade marinara sauce and served with a side of pasta.

When I walked in I eyed several desserts in a refrigerated case. One, in particular, caught my eye and for good reason.
Chocolate Cannoli Cake ($4.75): this refrigerated cake has 3 chocolate layers, 2 layers of cream, and lots of whipping cream on the outside.
