Place to be Thursday night? Lucha Libre (1810 West Washington, at India, 619-296-8226).

Why? Because Joey Harris is playing next door at the Bar Dynamite (ex Beat Farmers, now Joey Harris and the Mentals. Seem to be coming here about once a month). His uncle was Nicky Reynolds, of the Kingston Trio. Man. Those guitar licks. Can hear it all from LL's patio.

The other reason? Queso Tacos. Hard to beat this taco in all the land.
I had time to hear Joey because as usual there was a twenty-minute line here next door at Lucha Libre. 'Course I could have just phoned in my order, and taken it back to eat in Bar Dynamite. That's cool with both businesses.
Whatever, when I finally got to the front to give my order to Sabrina at the little counter...

...I had to think quick. Gal ahead of me, Camila, got a surf and turf (with marinated steak, shrimp, avocado, "smothered in our special sauce"); Me, I got the queso taco, $3.85, like most of them.
While I was waiting, got talking to the four ladies sitting at the Royal Table.

You have to book ahead for this, but you don't have to line up and you get all sorts of perks. Besides, you just feel Royal.
Jeannette, gal on the left is having a birthday. Lori, Pam and Vicki are helping her out. Jeannette's celebration food? Shrimp burrito. Lori? Chicken and mahi mahi "Flaco Taco;" Pam, "Undefeated Shrimp;" Vicki, queso taco.
"We're always here, when it comes to celebration," says Jeannine.
I chomp into my queso taco.

You can load up four or five different salsas, no extra
Sabrina says this French fry taco is for vegetarians. Could have had pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, all at the same price. But for me the spuds and avo combo's surprisingly good, so far, long as you splash lots of the salsas on it.
Like I'm sitting outside and have had time for one chomp.
Guess the delay's from yakking, and listening to Joey Harris. Man. His guitar's smokin' tonight.
Hey Joey: This chomp's for you!
