Saturday, November 10
10 a.m. – Ballast Point Beer Brunch Looking for a good reason to check out the new location for The Range Kitchen & Cocktails (1220 University Avenue, Hillcrest)? How about beer? How about brunch? How about Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits? If none of these reach you, you’re a lost cause. Stay home and save room for the other 99% with whom these sorts of enticers resonate.
11 a.m. – Sour Saturday It may be San Diego Beer Week, but the folks at Local Habit (3827 5th Avenue, Hillcrest) are broadening their geographical focus, offering up five-glass flights of sour ales plucked from all around the great state of California. Feed your hunger for fruity acidity with beers from The Lost Abbey, The Bruery, Craftsman, Eagle Rock, and Telegraph.
1 p.m. – 2nd Saturday with Marin Brewing It’s a Beer Week tradition for Hamilton’s Tavern (1521 30th Street, South Park) to buck America’s Finest City tradition and invite in their buds from Northern California’s Marin Brewing Company. They’ll be bringing down a pair of cask-conditioned ales as well as beers from smaller NorCal brewing companies we don’t see a lot of here in SoCal.
2 p.m. – The Flavors of Yeast Yeast expert Neva Parker from local yeast production company White Labs will be speaking about the important role yeast plays in the composition of quality beer, and offering up a trio of saisons fermented using different yeast strains to drive that point home. Her classroom for this heady topic—Sea Rocket Bistro (3382 30th Street, North Park). Get schooled.
