Deciphering Wine Labels at The Loft

Reading and correctly interpreting wine labels, particularly non-USA wine labels, can be challenging. Add a pretentious shop owner or a snooty sommelier, and you can end up paying too much for a wine you may not enjoy, or that you wouldn't have bought had you known what that label was trying to tell you.

The Artpower Center for the Performing Arts at UCSD in La Jolla, wants you to avoid such wine mishaps. They are offering a class called Sip! Real World Wine Education on January 25th at 6:30 pm in The Loft. It will focus on Old World wines, i.e., France, Italy, Germany and Spain. It will include pronunciation (worth the price of admission alone) as well as what all those mysterious, intriguing designations really mean.

The class is $15 for the public, $10 for UCSD students, and $5 for Loft members. Four wine tastes and food pairing is included. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and space is limited. Go here for details and to reserve your place.
