As of this writing, seats are still available for the inaugural Alchemy/Hamilton's quarterly beer dinner.
"The Barrel and the Beast," as the event has been dubbed, shall be a four course meal featuring dishes by Alchemy's head chef Ricardo Heredia that have been designed to match up to super-secret beer selections from Hamilton's owner and local craft beer powerhouse Scot Blair.
One word sums up the theme of the food: porky. Apparently, Chef Heredia intends to include as much of the most wonderful animal as possible, from snout to trotters, in the night's menu. In the past, Alchemy has proven an ability to deliver well beyond it's price point in terms of the quality of ingredients and the elegance of their presentation. Bank on this dinner following that trend.
And what of the beer? The selections haven't been announced yet (and they won't until the guests are seated) but Matt from Alchemy indicated that special beer reserves were being mined. All he could say was that it was going to be "super secret and really special." Exciting, non?
To hazard an educated guess, it's likely that the super secret beers are going to be big, high-alcohol monsters and potent imperial stouts that will have lesser hop-sniffers trembling at the knees; but there's no way to really know and perhaps some sort of ultra-rare cask lager will show up and boggle the minds of unsuspecting beer geeks.
The event takes place at Alchemy on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:00 PM. The cost is $75 per person and tickets can be bought at Brown Paper Tickets or by calling 619-255-0616.
