O.K., now that I've got your attention...
Earlier this month, while providing a sneak peek of Coronado Brewing Company’s soon-to-open Tecolote Canyon production brewery and tasting room, I mentioned having joined Beer For Boobs, a Susan G. Komen 3-Day walking group made up of members of the local craft brewing industry. The impetus for that shout-out was my happiness over CBC brewing a special beer to benefit B4B.
Turns out, that’s not the only charity beer they have a part in. CBC also donated ingredients, along with Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, Stone Brewing Company, Brewer’s Supply Group and yeast-production company White Labs, to create the second annual batch of bOOb Check, a scarlet-colored ale infused with hibiscus, orange blossom honey, Oregon cherries and lime. This fruity, refreshing beer was brewed by Colby Chandler and the Ballast Point crew at the company’s brewhouse at Home Brew Mart in Linda Vista. Proceeds from pint sales will be donated to Beer For Boobs to bolster our fundraising efforts.
BOOb Check will be available today—Thursday, August 30—when members of Beer For Boobs (myself included) rally at Ballast Point’s Scripps Ranch tasting bar (10051 Old Grove Road). Food vendor Tacos El Unico will also be on-hand serving up fresh-from-the-grill tacos. A beer after work always sounds like a good idea to me. Hopefully, you’ll feel the same way and we’ll see you out there.

Can’t make it, but want to pitch in? Beer For Boobs has numerous events planned from now until the 3-Day in November. A full list of events is available on the team’s website, but some near-horizon opportunities to come out and drink pink will be September 8 at Green Flash Brewing Company’s Treasure Chest Fest, and October 2 during a Beer for Boobs mixer and silent auction at 98 Bottles in Little Italy. Supporting a good cause doesn’t get much easier or enjoyable than this.
