There’s no denying it — La Jolla is one of the loveliest communities in San Diego. Why else would our most wealthy residents and droves of tourists choose it? The well-to-do and folks splurging on their big vacay can afford to hang there, but many locals choose neighborhoods where they get more bang for their buck.
On October 10, ten restaurants will be offering $5 dishes as part of the La Jolla Grub Sprawl. That list of participants includes Chedi Thai Bistro, The Cottage, Finch’s Wine Bar and Bistro, José’s Courtroom, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, La Jolla Brewhouse, Mediterranean Room, Prospect Bar and Grill, Vigilucci’s Ristorante, and Zenbu Sushi.
Some of the dishes include Chedi Thai’s Massaman curry with lamb (which I can attest is quite good), pistachio-crusted salmon with saffron citrus butter sauce from Finch’s, and Vigilucci’s mortadella-studded Lasagna Pugliese.
The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Attendees will need to stop in at either of two designated starting points -- Finch’s or Mediterranean Room -- to get a wristband and a map outlining participating venues. More information can be found online.
Enjoy, frugal foodies.
