Most Colorful Pizza?

Hauling up through Little Italy. Couldn’t resist stopping by Landini’s Pizzeria, the most colorful eatery on India.

Of course the selection in the display cabinet is huge. Gotta be a dozen sliced-up pies in there, plus I could've got one of those giant bloated calzones.

But no. I wanted one of their pepperoni Siciliana slices ($3.25) and a squat little bottle of Orangina (“12 percent juice, 2 percent pulp"), the French soda (2.25).

Colorful? You betcha. Blame the artist upstairs

Would have ordered their combo deal: a slice and a glass of wine for $8.50, but I want to sit out at one of their red umbrella sidewalk tables, and the pizza guy Garrett says state rules make it illegal to drink alcohol on the sidewalk without a fence to protect the public from us brawling, wine-sipping pizza eaters.

Somebody needs to mention to the state booze people that we're in the civilized 21st Century already...

Garrett hauls out my slice from reheating in the bottom oven

Still, sitting out here with the world and its dogs going by, chomping into this tender, crunchy, hot, 4x6x1-inch chunk of Sicilian pepperoni...

...with the setting sun making it luminous, and sounds of the cooks inside yelling “Pepperoni!” “Calzone!”, is just great.

I could get used to this.
