San Diego Beer Week: Day Eight

With roughly 500 events from pint nights to festivals and all-out, multi-venue fermentable free-for-alls, San Diego Beer Week can be confusing…and that’s before you start drinking. Fortunately, I know a thing or two about craft beer and our local scene. As such, I'm doling out info on some of the most special and significant goings-on during this 10-day span. Feel something incredible is missing? Comment and help get the word out there.

DAY EIGHT | Friday, November 11

12 p.m. – Ballast Point Total Tap Takeover Lots of bars get special kegs shipped their way during Beer Week, but you can expect the best Ballast Point has to offer to get funneled directly to The High Dive in Bay Park. Easily the most fervent supporter of the world’s best Small Brewing Company, they’ll have 16 BP brews on tap—all killer, no filler! Details

12:30 p.m. – The Bruery Beer Tasting Since bursting onto the brewing scene, brewmaster Patrick Rue has been wowing drinkers with the inventive and, often, downright risky beers of his Orange County operation, The Bruery. Take in those unique brews along with explanations on the processes behind them at Blind Lady Ale House. Details

5 p.m. – Roll Out the Barrels Some people are just perfect for their jobs. Case in point—Tyson Blake. Not only does he keep up the conviviality as the manager of O’Brien’s Pub. He also knows his beer and will be reaching way back into the cold box for some truly exceptional barrel-aged brews. Details

6 p.m. – Beer & Grilled Cheese Pairing Del Cerro’s KnB Wine Cellars is taking food and beer pairing to a homey, comforting place, matching up four specially selected Karl Strauss beers with four different grilled cheese sandwiches. Take an all-adult trip back to childhood followed by a trip down this liquor store’s well stocked beer aisle. Details

7 p.m. – Stone 11.11.11 Vertical Epic Ale Release Bars and restaurants all over San Diego will be celebrating the release of Stone 11.11.11 Vertical Epic Ale during Beer Week, but Ritual Tavern's penchant and talent for beer and food pairing and the fact it’ll be 11/11/11 should make for optimal conditions for enjoying this unique brew to the utmost. Details
