In this time of increasing prices and decreasing buying power there aren’t too many bargains to be had out there. But Sushi Yaro on Engineer Road (between Convoy and Mercury in Kearney Mesa) has a lunch deal that may make you wallet feel a bit better.
Your choice of BBQ Beef, Chicken Teriyaki, Spicy Pork, or Vegetarian Curry Rice for $3.99, cheaper than many burgers at fast food joints. The meals come with a salad and rice.
These aren’t humongous meals, but one plate suits me just fine. I’d recommend the spicy pork, which is a version of Daeji Bulgogi, basically slices of pork marinated in a Kochujang (Korean spicy bean paste).
If you’re a bigger eater, go with a friend. I’ve seen folks ordering three lunches for two, which will still come in at about six bucks per person.
On my last visit I asked Sam, the Itamae who runs the shop if there were “any strings attached” to this deal. I was told that lunch was served from 11:30am to 2:30pm 7 days a week, and the deal applies to take-out orders a well. A pretty good deal if you ask me.
