Taco Wars: All In the Family

Shout out to Bill McC, on 30th. Reckons if you’re into fish tacos, shrimp tostadas or shrimp cocktails, you ain’t gonna beat Kiko’s, the food truck that usually parks in front of Pep Boys on El Cajon Boulevard. Hard to believe, but he says, and I believe him, that you get at least 16 large shrimp in the “small” shrimp cocktail for eight buckeroos. With the usual fixins, lime juice and chopped onions, tomatoes and cilantro. Plus, with the tostada, a cup of hot spicy tomato broth with cabbage. All for $3. Or, when you’re really tapped out, a fish taco for 99 cents. I’da been there long ago except for the fact that the Marisco’s Germán food truck is right there at 3030 Grape Street, at 30th/Fern, (and they have others), and they have guerreat fish deals too, and crispy fish tacos. Are they as good? Well, I’m gonna say yes, pending thorough investigation of Kiko’s. Though Germán Jr., who was there last time I stopped by, said they’d be about the same because, well, seems Kiko is Germán’s brother-in-law. BTW, don’t leave Germán’s without investing in their Taco Gobernador. Oh mama. Shrimp, cheese, onions, celery, other veggies. I swear, this is TDF (To Die For). SNM (Say No Maw).
