Is this the best pizza box in town?
It’s the artiest I’ve seen.
Irony: Fancy box for maybe the most minimalist pizzas in town, that I know of, anyway. From Pizzeria (and Caffe) Calabria (3933 30th Street, North Park).
Arne Holt, the owner, loves Italy. He is determined to make pizzas here just the way they do in Naples, where pizza, everybody says, was born.
From what I had so far, “minimalist” doesn’t mean boring. The one I got was the carbonara, mainly because it has a cream base, not tomato, and an egg on top.
In between there’s speck (juniper-flavored ham chunks), cheese, and stalks of asparagus. Yes, $14, but it’ll be enough for me and Carla. More on this soon in Tin Fork.
Oh, and the box?
Looking for a frame. It’s going on the wall. Anyone seen any better?
