Bud's Louisiana has moved from their tiny Tierrasanta place to larger space in the middle of an office complex in Kearny Mesa:
4320 Viewridge Ave, "A" In the Balboa Business Center San Diego, CA 92123
At least getting there should be easier at the new place, right off the 15 fwy & Balboa Ave.
French chef Rene Herbeck has resurfaced at Au Revoir in Hillcrest, at the site of the deceased La Vache. He was brilliant at Mario's on Coronado, and at another soon-dead French restaurant in the Encinitas Lumberyard. Then he went to work with Amiko Gubbins at Parallel 33 for some years, until she ran off to cook for a rock star. He reappeared at Philippe Beltran's popular Adams Avenue bistro, Bleu Boheme, grinding out cuisine francaise until Beltran sold the restaurant to Ken Irvine, former owner of Coronado's Chez Loma. Arriverderci Restaurant (Italian for "au 'voir") owns it. Several months after opening, the website is still a disaster -- I just wasted a couple of hours trying to download the sample menu. But I gather from foodie websites that it's pretty much classic bistro food like onion soup, escargots in puff pastry, wild mushroom ravioli, mussels, boeuf bourguignon. With service by French waitrons and waitronnes. I meant to go there this weekend for a relaxing dinner with one friend, but without the posted menu, I don't know how many people it'll take to get a fair sampling. Also, seems they don't take rezzies on weekends! Is that weird or is that weird?
