Top Toque Going to Longtime Sous at Starlite

Over the past four years, Starlite has been a favorite of locavores, particularly those with a penchant for late-night eats and craft cocktails. From day one, the former has been comprised of classic Americana with a modern twist and a nod to local growers. And from day one, the same two back-of-the-housers have been churning out those dishes: Marguerite Grifka and Kathleen Wise.

Recently, on the back of some significant personal events, Grifka has been examining her life and career in a whole new light. The result of that introspection is her decision last month to step away from Starlite to spend more time with her family and decide which direction to go for the next chapter of her cheffing career. It remains to be seen what she'll do, but one avenue Grifka is exploring is cooking in a non-profit environment or putting her skills to use for the greater good of humanity.

Meanwhile, back at Starlite, Grifka's departure clears the way for Wise to step into the head chef position, where she will maintain the status quo...early on at least. Expect continuity but look for flecks of her unique character in future offerings as well.
