CIF State Basketball Championships
State Finals
Division II
Mountain View Saint Francis (30-3) vs Lincoln (28-2)
Friday 8 p.m. at Rabobank Arena, Bakersfield
Saint Francis finished runner-up in Central Coast Section Division II playoffs and came into the state playoffs as the second-seed in the Northern California Bracket. The Lancers advanced to the state finals by beating Roseville Woodcreek 48-47 in the NorCal Regional Finals last Saturday.
Saint Francis ran the table in the West Catholic League and their longest winning streak this season is 16. Fresno State bound guard Tyler Johnson, who averages 14 points a game, leads the Lancers.
Lincoln coach Jason Bryant saw game film of Saint Francis this week and he compares them to Francis Parker.
“They shoot well, they have really good ball skills, they pass well, they finish at the rim, they play intense man-to-man defense and they pressure the ball,” Bryant said.
Bryant said the Lancers’ shooting and ball pressure is something the Hornets need to look out for.
“They’re a deep team. They go about 10-11 deep on the bench if need be,” Bryant said. “The coach changes his lineup from game to game, so it’s hard to get a good scout on them.”
