Bishop’s guard David Stotelmyre goes up for a layup against Army-Navy
Knights roll to eighth win in a row
Upcoming opponents of ninth-ranked Bishop’s will probably be glad to see the month of January come to a close. The Knights capped the month on Thursday with a convincing 77-38 win over Army-Navy to finish it 8-1.
Bishop’s used a strong first quarter to dismantle Army-Navy. Ahead 7-6 midway through the first, Bishop’s Malik Love and Trevor Sinclair hit threes on consecutive possessions that sparked a 15-0 run to end the quarter.
The Knights extended their lead in the second quarter with half court trapping on the defensive end and ball movement on the offensive side, leading to 43-19 advantage at the half.
The second half was more of the same as Bishop’s cruised to a 39-point win. The victory was the Knights’ eighth in a row. Forward Malik Love led Bishop’s (17-4) with a game-high 24 points and guard David Stotlemyre had 20. Guard Rafael Rodriguez led Army-Navy (10-7) with 21 points.
Bishop’s is quietly putting together a great season. The Knights only losses in the section have come to top-10 teams – Torrey Pines, Foothills Christian, and San Diego – and they have the best record in Division IV.
