Game of the Week
No. 9 Foothills Christian (18-4) at No. 2 San Diego (13-6) Saturday 7 p.m.
This rare late-season non-league matchup will be a treat. Two of the top three scorers in the section, San Diego center Jeremy Tyler (30.4 points per game) and Foothills Christian guard Troy Leaf (25.6 ppg) will be on display at San Diego High. Can the Knights make a case for small school basketball or will the Cavers remain unbeaten in San Diego?
Other Games on the Fast Break
No. 5 University City (18-4, 6-2 Western) at St. Augustine (17-5, 6-2) Tuesday 4:30 p.m.
This game is the rubber match between the Centurions and Saints - University City won by two in the Grossmont Winter Classic in December and St. Augustine exacted payback with a three-point win in the Centurions' gym last month. If the first two meetings were any indication, this game will probably come down to the wire. Both teams are led by senior point guards - University City's Mark Hills and St. Augustine's Stephon Lamar.
No. 1 El Camino (22-3, 6-0 Palomar) at No. 8 Vista (19-5, 4-2) Wednesday 7 p.m.
The third meeting between the Palomar League's two best will be a defensive affair - both the Wildcats and Panthers rely on pressure defense to create turnovers. El Camino won both games by only one point apiece, including the championship game of the Eagle-Vaquero tournament in December. Will the third time be the charm for Vista?
