Man attempts suicide with rat poison (Peninsular Digital, 1/25/13)

La Paz, BC Sur - Ingesting rat poison, Pedro Cortés García, allegedly tried to commit suicide, however, a call prevented the attempt after the rapid intervention of police and medical care.

Police Municipal elements were alerted by a phone call and arrived overnight on Wednesday at the bridge over the arroyo located in Forjadores and Colima to a report of a citizen’s body - an almost lifeless male. Near him was a folder with personal documents and a container of rat poison.

The SP 85 uniformed unit gave assistance to Pedro Cortés García and noticed in his mouth was several rat poison capsules which had not been fully swallowed. After the arrival of a paramedic unit, Acapulqueño Pedro Cortes, 38, was stabilized and transferred to Salvatierra Emergency Hospital where an intestinal lavage saved him from death. http://peninsulardigital.com/sucesos/intento-quitarse-la-vida-tomando-veneno-para-ratas/102491
