Tijuana, BC - Health Jurisdiction No.2 is awaiting Epidemiology results to determine whether three deaths that were just registered were because of the low temperatures. Dr. Leticia Blake, head of the Health Jurisdiction covering Tijuana, Tecate and Playas de Rosarito, said she needs more data as the cases are still being researched. So, she did not offer details or ages of the victims, where these fatalities were recorded, in which municipalities and said that now, "It is only being assumed they were by "hypothermia".
She added that the people probably who lost their life might have had some disease that contributed to their deaths. "If you want the data to be accurate, we will give it to the population when the epidemiological study is completed. Right now it is still pending in the jurisdiction and we are studying the cases," she responded.

Tijuana, BC - Baja California has moved in its place on the list of HIV/AIDS cases at the national level, said Dr. Remedios Lozada, a researcher at the HIV program in the Sanitary Jurisdiction No. 2 of the Ministry of Health (SSA). "Right now we are among the top 10 places; before we were first or second," she said without specifying the place currently occupied by the region.
She added that currently there are more than 6,000 cases in Baja California. In recent years the notification of cases was around 200 per year. In 2012, there were more than 300. She said that in addition to having more cases they have had less success with detection, and have now increased their detection actions concentrated in well-defined groups as drug-injecting users and commercial sex workers.
For this reason, commented Dr. Remedios Lozada, the main modes of transmission continue to be sexual, blood and perinatal.
