Baja & Border News Translations: City Council Announces Pet Sterilization Day; Interpol Captures Ensenada Alderman Alleged Murderer

City Council Announces Pet Sterilization Day (El Mexicano, 1/16/13)

Tijuana, BC - As an alternative to the overpopulation of stray animals, the 20th City Council will have a pet sterilization day, this Sunday, January 20.

By performing this type of action, the city intends to address the public health problem posed by the proliferation of dogs in public, said the head of the Department of Animal Control of the Municipal Department of Health, Marco Antonio Tapia Miranda.

He said the intention is so those who have house dogs and cats have the opportunity to sterilize them, for a minimal fee of 200 pesos, in order to avoid the birth of unwanted animals that regularly end up abandoned in the streets.

Sterilizations will be offered on Sunday, January 20, from 8:00 to 15:00 hours, at the Department of Municipal Animal Control facilities, located on Boulevard Insurgentes (without number) - next to the Pantheon Monte de los Olivos in La Presa delegation.

The recommendation is made to register your pet in advance by telephone at 970-70-06 to ensure a space. The pet must be presented clean, disease-free, without fleas or ticks having fasted for 12 hours. That is during this time no food or water. As for females, it is very important that they are not in a period of gestation and not nursing puppies or kittens. http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/informacion/noticias/1/3/estatal/2013/01/16/644208/anuncia-ayuntamiento-jornada-para-esterilizar-mascotas.aspx
