Baja & Border News Translations: 160 Kilos of Marijuana Seized; No Firing of Weapons Urged for New Year

Tijuana, BC - Approximately 160 pounds of marijuana were seized inside a vehicle on calle 5 de Febrero in Col. Mariano Matamoros. There are no detainees. The report by the Secretariat of Public Security of the State (SSPE) stated the drugs were inside of a green 2000 Dodge Caravan with national plates AJV3956, found parked in the opposite direction of traffic.

In the official version about the confiscation of the drugs, an agent of the Preventive State police PEP said he realized that the doors were unlocked and the Interior contained several packages of different sizes with wrapping similar to that often used to hide drugs.

The authorities reported that in total there were 44 packets with a total approximate weight of 160 pounds. Tijuana, BC - Municipal authorities call on citizenship to not endanger the lives of innocent people, by firing into the air during new year's celebrations. Authorities warn there will be strict monitoring.

The SSPM Municipal Public Security Secretariat points out that in some areas of the East zone of Tijuana, where many homes with wooden roofs where bullets can pass through and injure people.

They warn that there will be a strict monitoring, with the support of anonymous reporting by neighbors. Those that are detected of firing weapons will be apprehended and appropriately punished. The authorities said that if a suspect manages to escape the SSPM, a complaint will be lodged by the public prosecutor.

They also urge motorists not to operate in a drunken state to avoid accidents and not to endanger their life or that of others.
