ENSENADA, BC - A total of 50 arrested Carnaval revelers were released today by the Royal Court, a tradition that has been practiced by the Municipal Public Security Secretariat each year.
All those arrested were held under administrative arrests such as fighting in public, public drunkenness and disturbing the peace.

MEXICO CITY - A minor who confessed to being responsible for at least 10 executions in Zacatecas and detained in the Youth Center of Detention and Integral Care (CIAIJ), was released due to the fact that he is under 14 years old, since the facility may only hold youth between the ages 14 and 18.
The teenager, who is 13 years and six months of age was captured by Federal Police along with eight Central Americans, said authorities. Among the killings he committed was of a young woman found near a landfill, reported the daily paper Zocalo.
The Director of Prisons in Zacatecas, Ricardo Ramírez Díaz, said the minor stayed for only a few hours as a prisoner before he was released since the defense argued he is a minor. The judges determined to grant the Zacatecas minor freedom even though the charges against him were for criminal association, illegal deprivation of liberty and murder.
Ramirez Diaz explained that the teenager was placed at the disposal of authorities for further legal formalities, but complied with the decision of the juvenile judge. He said that the mother of the child picked him up when he was released.
On last Monday, February 4, federal agents arrested 15 people in Colonia Lomas del Lago in the Zacatecas capital, including eight Central Americans, the minor child and four women. TIJUANA, BC - Veronica Martinez Gutierrez has requested support from readers of El Mexicano to feed her family. In despair, the mother of six children is out of work and her husband is unemployed. She walked from her home in El Florido to Colonia Los Pirules, where El Mexicano newspaper is located to present her case to the community and ask for their support.
Verónica Martínez Gutiérrez said her husband is a 60-year-old man who is the livelihood of the family and has not worked since January 4, when he lost his license to driver a cab, for lack of resources to renew it.
Since then, she has been practically living on the charity of people who give her temporary work such as cleaning houses or from donations, she said. The woman said she has a visual illness that prevents her from being a candidate for work in the maquiladora industry and nobody wants her to give her formal employment because she does not pass the eye exam.
She said that two of her six children have health problems; one of the four-year-old triplets suffers from seizures and one 12-year-old suffers from anemia due to a poor diet. At home, she said, there isn’t enough to eat properly and therefore requested the assistance of readers of El Mexicano so her husband can pay 1,500 pesos ($118 US) for the cost of renewing his driver license to return to work.
She would also appreciate help in-kind such as food or whatever people can give to satisfy the basic needs of their children. Veronica’s family has Popular Insurance and for the small one with symptoms of epilepsy, the treatment is guaranteed. However, when it gets bad the child must be transferred to the General Hospital and then there are necessities and additional expenses.
